District 1 Priorities

A stronger future
for Palm Springs

Don Soja’s priorities focus on safer neighborhoods, responsible growth, stronger local services, and a city government that listens to residents and delivers practical results.

Key Issues

Focused on what matters most

Transparent & Accountable Government

I believe Palm Springs residents deserve honesty, transparency and accountability from their elected representatives. As your District 1 City Councilmember, I will be open about the decisions I make, listen to residents and work to ensure that city government remains responsive to the people it serves.

A Financially Strong Palm Springs

Maintaining a balanced city budget and protecting the long-term financial health of Palm Springs will be among my highest priorities. That includes responsible spending, careful financial planning and making sure the City’s obligations—including retirement funding for our city departments—are properly addressed.

Equal Rights & Opportunities

My commitment to equal rights has been at the heart of my community service, including my time as Vice Chair of the Palm Springs Human Rights Commission. I will continue to support equal rights and equal opportunities for everyone and work to ensure Palm Springs remains a safe, welcoming and inclusive city.

Homelessness

We need realistic, compassionate and effective approaches to homelessness. I will support efforts that connect people with appropriate services and work toward meaningful, long-term solutions.

Affordable Housing

I support creating more affordable housing opportunities throughout Palm Springs. Meeting our housing needs should be a responsibility shared equitably across the city’s districts.

A Strong Voice for District 1

I am running to represent the residents of District 1, and their concerns will always have a strong voice at City Hall. At the same time, the decisions made by City Council affect our entire community. I will work collaboratively to make Palm Springs stronger for everyone who lives here.

Why I’m running

I love living in Palm Springs, and I believe strongly in the importance of our neighborhoods and the people who make them special.

I’m running for Palm Springs City Council to represent the residents of District 1 and to bring the same commitment to service that I have brought to our community for nearly 20 years.

If elected, I will make serving on the Palm Springs City Council a full-time commitment. I will listen, I will be accessible, and I will work to represent all of the residents of District 1.

I would be honored to have your support and your vote on November 3, 2026.

Let’s move Palm Springs
forward together
